Went to see the Seoul Light Gwanghwamun media show where four different artworks are projected with music on the façade of Gwanghwamun. It was really great, the first performance, Feast of Lights by aplan-company was very impressive. 🎇

We thought of going to the Gwanghwamun market as it was just on the square, but there was such a long waiting line to enter that we gave up.

(And because Kyobo bookstore is on the way to the metro, I bought a book on the way back :blob_grin: )

I took this photo in the restroom of the university. It's a soap bar. You wet your hands, rub the soap, and wash your hands.

As you're standing in line to wash your hands, the act of getting soap looks exactly as you'd expect it to look like.

Went cycling on the Ara canal today (it’s a canal linking the Han River to the Yellow Sea). It’s one of my favourite places for a bike ride, beautiful and not crowded.

The pools were empty, but people (mostly with children) were queuing up to enter.

My last day in Seoul. I had an evening flight and arrived home the same day, flying against time. I wanted to visit the Blue House, home of the Korean president. I faithfully followed my Naver directions and wound up at this apartment building in hilly Mapo. Decided to return to my guesthouse and area. I ate Japanese at a location from
I left early for Incheon and slept solidly for most of my flight then again at home. Good to be back.

This weeks surprise martial law decree comes on the heels of a widening political fallout from a stock manipulation scandal led by the 1st lady herself.

Prosecutors refused to indict the first lady for her central role in the financial scheme. In response the South Korean Democratic party(which has a majority in the National Assembly) planned to begin impeachment procedures against these prosecutors starting this week.

Soldiers were seen over night descending upon the National Assembly complex and photos have emerged of the heavily armed force occupying it's halls.

Outside crowds of law makers and aids demanded to be let in to conduct the people's business but met stiff resistance for local police.

All major political parties decry this undemocratic move by President Yoon including his own People Power Party.

Today South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has declared emergency martial law due to "anti-State" actors.

Who are the "anti-State"?

So far his order makes it clear, its any political party not aligned with President Yoon. He's closed down their National Assembly and wants direct control of all political media.

This appears to be a coup, not a legit emergency.

’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) provided evidence on Friday of what it said were North Korean troops’ deployments to before participating in the war in , including a series of satellite images of troop concentration.

NIS said those deployed to Russia consisted of “1,500 North Korean special forces from the areas near , , and ” of the country.
