Statt vielleicht ständig neue Serverprojekte für verschiedene Fediversedienste zu bauen wäre es vielleicht einfacher Clients zu machen, die einfach jeweils nen anderen Schwerpunkt haben?

Und bei Servern vielleicht lieber zwischen Multimedia und Kurznachrichtendienst/Statusnachrichten unterscheiden?
erstere brauchen mehr Bumms und Medienwandler, letzter nicht unbedingt.

The #Fediverse is growing and we're welcoming more and more new single user instances but #federation can become challenging.

With #Relay instances, single user and smaller instances can quickly become federated and grow which is supported by many Fediverse applications like #snac #snac2 #Mastodon #Pleroma etc.

I'd like to see the #Fediverse win.

I think #Pleroma and other efficient alternative implementations can help it do this.

But they are missing critical features:

• Real account migration (posts and all)
• Algorithmic feeds
• Better search (with filters similar to X)
• Monetization features using cryptocurrency. And it must be cryptocurrency. Either #LightningNetwork or #Monero / #XMR

One thing about Akkoma that can cause you problems when hosting it is —

It stores media in the databases.

Including caching the profile images and profile headers from random people on the Fediverse.

This can cause your storage-drive to fill up.

I've seen 40% or more of the storage-drive taken up by this caching.

#FediDB respecting robots.txt has really changed how stats are tabulated.

Prior to this change, there were 997 #Pleroma servers that were counted. Now the count has been reduced to 582.

With #WordPress, the difference is more stark. Prior to the change, there was over 9,000 WordPress servers counted. Now the count is at 3,578 servers.

To be sure, I’m not complaining – privacy is important. But it is to say that #ActivityPub user counts should have a big asterisk: many servers have opted out of being crawled. This means they are not being counted.

FediDB says there are 12,923,059 accounts across the #Fediverse. But this is actually drastically higher.

New instance, new #introduction
I'm a serious Plan 9/9front user who wants to try out a #pleroma instance. Up until now I only used #mastodon. I'm also a #game developer and I also like old computer systems and non-computing stuff. I like to explore different ways to do things, and learn from them.

I probably forgot many things, and mentioned things that aren't so relevant, but that's just how it is.

Tras una primera inmersión en el #fediverso, estoy pensando en montarme una instancia propia para uso personal (tengo un pequeño servidor Debian en casa). Estoy buscando un servidor compatible con #activitypub ligero y a ser posible multidominio. He descartado #Mastodon por los requerimientos, y ando dudando entre #pleroma , #takahẽ , #GoToSocial o #friendica

Busco algo con una interfaz agradable, sin demasiadas dependencias a cosas raras (estoy acostumbrado a un entorno #LAMP), y que tenga un proyecto mínimamente sólido y con proyección de futuro (soy un señor mayor y estoy en esa fase de no tener que probarlo todo 🙂 ) Ahora mismo tengo cuenta en Mastodon, Pixelfed y Leemy.

¿Alguna recomendación? ¡Gracias!

My #fediverse server is running the #Sharkey software platform, a fork of #Misskey, to post messages via the #activitypub protocol. You can see my post, even though you may use another platform to participate in the fediverse, like #Mastodon or #Pleroma. So, without using the same platform, we can share messages because we use the same protocol. We have to move from platform-based networking to protocol-based networking. Get rid of the lock-ins, be self-sovereign!

Habe da versucht, meine durch eine SPAM Attacke zerstörte #Pleroma Instanz mit gleichem Domain neu und neuer Datenbank aufzusetzen. Das scheint das Follow/Following in Pleroma nicht so zu schätzen - bisschen ein Durcheinander. Es bleibt aber vorerst beim Versuchsbetrieb.

So, meine neue #Akkoma Instanz mit Version 3.13.2 scheint ganz ordentlich zu laufen. Das Setup ist zwar noch etwas exotisch: Sie läuft auf einem Raspi4 mit 4GB RAM und ist über das Mobilnetz ins Internet verbunden (IPv4 und IPv6).

Mal schauen, ob ich aus der Datenbank der kaputten #Pleroma Instanz noch was retten kann.

Wenn du auf #Friendica einen Post mit einem Hashtag schreibst, ich den Post bei mir unter #Pleroma lese und auf deinen #Hashtag klicke, geht der Link auf deine #Friendica Instanz in die Suchfunkton für den Hashtag.

People of the #fediverse, I am going to setup a new personal instance server for just myself and a small group of folks. Are we still happy with #mastodon or is #pleroma best suited? I have experience with Mastodon and know what that is like, not sure of Pleroma.

It almost feels like Mastodon do not want us to self host. There is no direct link on the main webpage to install on server. Digging through the docs, finally found documentation and there is no Docker container or a package for any OS for easy installation. They require us to install from source along with all the dependencies. I don't mean to bad mouth it but they do not do enough to encourage self hosting (if not discourage).

Would like to know your opinions or ideas on how to self host it easily with minimum maintenance (auto upgrades, etc).

En particulier, quelles fonctionnalités sont exclusives¹ à Pleroma, Akkoma, #Misskey, Mastodon/#GlitchSoc (et leur éventuels dérivés ?) ?

Quelqu'un a fait un comparatif ?

¹ soit complètement (ex:formater un message) et non compatibles, soit compatible en lecture (ex: tel logiciel peut voir, mais pas faire la même chose).
