@simon Obviously! The source code is: that code required to produce the binary. That code was LGPL. It doesn't matter how many algorithms, nor the nature of the algorithms, it goes through to become those 1s and 0s.

In 2018 this paper reframed a major chapter of computing history in a way that's more apparent and relevant today.

The paper traces the ideological roots of Seymour Papert's constructionism and Logo, as well as projects his work influenced such as Scratch and OLPC, to the MIT hacker culture. It also explains the fall from grace of the theory in the education world, but notably not in the technology world, as a consequence of that culture and its disconnect with the wider social implications.

For the #EpsteinFiles curious among you, I really do recommend you read the man's text messages. Especially the text messages to/from Epstein's bestie #SteveBannon. While you're there you can also read about how Jeffrey Epstein was funding the #bitcoin core development team starting from around 2015 at #MIT (possibly until his death).

Also made some improvements to the Epstein text messages page:

- Highlighted important names ("trump", "jabor", "brock", "#bitcoin", "#SaudiArabia", "#Israel", etc)

- Deanonymized (with help) as many of the #Epstein emails as I could manage based on various kinds of clues, including the signature lines.

- Added an "Other Files" section at the bottom with preview text + links to raw files that are neither emails nor iMessage log files.

- Various other forms of analysis (common signatures, author counts, etc)

The NuMachine – the prototypical basis for the LMI Lambda and TI Explorer Lisp machines and TI1500 Unix servers. Its NuBus was used in Apple's Macintosh II and subsequent systems up to the first PowerPCs as well as the NeXT Cube.

The OS developed for the NuMachine was TRIX, a Unix v7 clone with added RPC functionality. Stallman planned to use Trix as the kernel for the GNU project.

Time Travel: obscure & cryptic little ad in Artforum Magazine from 45 years ago proves more relevant today than back in 1980.

#Scientific #research, #spiritual #quest, or #conceptual #art, it's an invitation to make contact with Time Travelers — or Visitors from the Future(s) — at what some call a landing reception. Today, the ongoing work of The Krononaut Moon Project continues at full steam on #Mastodon & #Fediverse.

The historic ad appeared in the magazine's 1980 Jan issue, announcing a gathering to occur two years later on 1982 Mar 09, inviting #Krononauts or #TimeTravelers to beam down to #Baltimore #MD #US. The hundreds of attendees at the night's festivities were documented by a #NYTimes #newspaper reporter. Later, others would organize their own inter-dimensional meet-ups in #Perth #AU, #MIT #US, and #Cambridge #UK. (All were landing receptions of type-1.0.
