#sponsorship

Someone kindly reached out to ask if I would consider speaking about Gaza Verified (gaza-verified.org/) at the Social Web Devroom being organised by the Social Web Foundation at FOSDEM.

My answer is no.

And I feel it’s important for those of us who care about such things to understand why:

• Social Web Foundation (socialwebfoundation.org) partners with, and thereby whitewashes and legitimises Meta

• FOSDEM (fosdem.org/2026) allows itself to be sponsored by, and thereby whitewashes and legitimises, Google and IBM (Red Hat)

Meta and Google are both surveillance capitalists with strong ties to the Trump regime that is arming and financing Israel’s genocide in Gaza. IBM, apart from having helped Nazi Germany carry out the Holocaust, is also singled out by name, alongside Google (Alphabet, Inc.), as complicit in Israel’s ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people (‪aljazeera.com/news/2025/7/1/un).

It shouldn’t be hard for organisations that purport to be alternatives to toxic Big Tech to not be sponsored and affiliated with them. But apparently it is.

Personally, I have no trouble saying no to having my name and legitimacy being used to whitewash these corporations and I have been doing so since the beginning.

• ‪ ar.al/2019/01/11/i-was-wrong-a

• ‪ ar.al/notes/rightscon-or-a-rig

I will not stand – literally or metaphorically – in front of their banners and talk about an initiative that tries to help the very people victimised by these corporations in their sociopathic quest for profit at any cost.

I hope more people start doing the same if we are to have any chance of making these corporations with their toxic business models and their complicity in genocide socially unacceptable. If we cannot even meet that already-very-low bar – as long as those of us with legitimacy allow ourselves to be used to normalise them – nothing will change.

Hey everyone,

Nadeen and her sister need your help to continue their education in Gaza.

They need to raise ~$2,500.

Would any of you consider taking up this cause and helping them to fundraise? Or sponsor their education?

Please share + thank you 💕

please boost!!! :boostRequest:

DOES ANYBODY WANNA SPONSOR FEDIPACT?

like unironically? i'm thinking of adding a small section to the end of fedipact.online for some tasteful sponsors. i mean hell joinmastodon.org has a similar thingy. the page gets a fuckload of views, like over a million lifetime so far. i know this probably sounds really silly but i am so goddamn sick and tired of being thoroughly fucking broke constantly and this would be a nice way to be compensated for my efforts with this project. like i am literally always just barely getting by on a shoestring budget in my day-to-day life and it's really goddamn stressful!!! i hate being poor!!!!! it makes me worse at maintaining the fedipact list, and everything else too

for a minimum of $420 monthly you can be featured on the fedipact website!!! contact me on here or via email at v4nt4bl4ck@protonmail.com to discuss!

DO NOTE HOWEVER THAT SPONSORSHIP DOES NOT EQUAL INFLUENCE. FEDIPACT IS FULLY INDEPENDENT.

For those interested in supporting 's development, we do have an Open Collective page where community is welcome.

Even small contributions help sustain development and show there's interest in open source tools. Thanks to our existing sponsors who've already been helping move the project forward!

The goal remains the same: make building federated applications more accessible to developers so the can continue to grow and thrive.
