A vertical black and white photograph of a ruined Irish stone castle or tower house. In the foreground, the dark, intricate shadows of leafless tree branches are projected vividly onto the textured, light-grey stone surface of the ruins. The sunlight comes from the side, creating a high-contrast 'sciagraphy' effect. To the left, a tall, narrow turret stands against a clear, pale sky. The mood is atmospheric, ancient, and still, emphasising the rugged textures of the masonry.

📝 Extrudeler (ex-tru-del-er)
noun
(1). one who operates, installs, maintains, or repairs manufacturing equipment relating to the production of extrudel
(2). a machine or device that creates extrudel, either in part or as a primary function

I based my definitions on:
Extrude - verb (2). merriam-webster.com/dictionary
Die - noun (3d). merriam-webster.com/dictionary

Remember, we all collectively make up as we go anyway! 😆

merriam-webster.com

Definition of DIE

to pass from physical life : expire; to pass out of existence : cease; to disappear or subside gradually —often used with away, down, or out… See the full definition

side of my brain loves fun-sounding words - it latched onto these. Idea popped into my head while trying to learn last week
I made definitions and pronunciations just for fun.

📝 Extrudel (ex-tru-del)
noun
(1). any long, shaped material after it has been forced or extruded through a die, especially in manufacturing
(examples: uncooked spaghetti, red vines candy, many kinds of wire)

(Rhymes with strudel)

a new-to-me word:

VILIPEND.

Isn't it delightful?!

It means "to express scornfully one's low opinion of" someone or something.

Example sentence:

I experience a likely unhealthy amount of Schadenfreude anytime I read an article or hear a report vilipending the fascist regime of vile misogynist and racist Donald Trump and his sycophantic ilk.

And there's your , y'all. Happy learning!

While 's API provides comprehensive support for and major vendor extensions, its code-generation approach makes runtime extensions challenging. However, the project welcomes contributions to expand the supported types and properties.

Fedify accepts vocabulary contributions when they meet any of these criteria:

  • Documented in FEP (Fediverse Enhancement Proposals) or equivalent specification
  • Already adopted by widely-used implementations like Mastodon or Pleroma
  • Thoroughly discussed within the Fedify community (Discord, Matrix, GitHub Discussions)

Contributing new vocabulary is straightforward. The vocabulary definitions live in YAML files within the fedify/vocab/ directory. To add a new type, create a new .yaml file. To add properties to existing types, extend the properties section in the relevant .yaml file.

This approach ensures Fedify's vocabulary coverage grows with the fediverse ecosystem while maintaining type safety and comprehensive documentation. If you're working with custom ActivityPub extensions, consider contributing them upstream to benefit the entire community.

For detailed guidance on the contribution process, see the Extending the vocabulary section in Fedify's docs.
