📡 I set up my first #MeshCore repeater (and it's working splendidly)
🧱 I created a custom-built case for it with LEGO (see: https://mastodon.social/@_elena/116912226996146067)
👩💻 I installed #HomeBrew on my Macbook Air this morning and I'm currently installing #Meshy
🙌 endless gratitude towards my Mesh guide @stereo who has the patience of a zen master and helped me through all this #GratefulForYou

Attached: 1 image Update no.3: my #MeshCore Bluetooth companion is picking up my Meshcore Repeater - YAY 🥳 We had to leave Paris in a hurry last month because of the brutal heatwave so I forgot the cases there. But here in Italy I have an endless supply of LEGO, so I built a custom housing for my Heltec v3 repeater, its battery and antenna. I really like it 🥰

In other news none of the #ChronoTrigger themes for the 3DS were up my alley, so I made my own!
#Bluefin doesn't replace #Toolbox with #Distrobox. The image includes both. Use your favorite. And probably 99% of the things you want to layer can be taken care of with #Homebrew, which is also included on the image. I still use Distrobox for my development environments, but those everyday CLI utilities come from Brew. https://projectbluefin.io/

Universal Blue/Bazzite/Silverblue/other immutable Linux friends: (why) should I be using Homebrew?
I contribute to a handful of web projects that use npm, ruby, and probably other package managers. I’ve not really had a problem lately installing things the way those projects say to for Linux, but I keep hearing about people using Homebrew on Linux. When needed, I can also spin up a toolbx container and work in there. Am I missing something?

I'm sure someone has already invented a #python wiper that gets rid of all stray python installations, venvs and package managers. After two versions of poetry, a conda episode (better say: accident), a switch to uv, inconsistent use of pip, pipx and python installs via #homebrew, and installs via miniconda that #julialang and #quarto sneaked up on me, there is absolutely no way to make any path to anything work in any virtual environment and I need a new laptop. So what's the python wiper called?

I bought some frozen grape juice concentrate so I could make a gallon of wine, then left them on the counter to thaw and forgot about them for a few days. Checking today and one of the cans is puffed up w/ definite alcohol scent when opened. Looks like I got wild ferment by accident? Never had that happen before... I'm going to just mix the rest of the must up without pitching any yeast and see if it'll keep going!

The creation of a business layer over #Homebrew, allowing the maintainers to work full-time on what they love, inspired us to pursue a similar path for Tuist:

Two Years Building Workbrew, a Remote-First Enterprise Homebrew Startup
TL;DR: I left GitHub after 10 years to cofound Raise.dev. After an early failed experiment building IoT developer tools, we pivoted and built Workbrew: an enterprise-friendly layer over Homebrew, a project I’ve maintained since 2009 and led since 2019. Two years in, we’ve raised VC funding, built a remote team, and have happy, paying customers. Here’s what I learned so far.

Today is a good day. I built installers for #Python 3.14.0a5 for both Windows and macOS. My little fix to #xonsh immediately landed in a new release that was immediately picked up by #homebrew. They're also shipping Python 3.13.2. Upgrading was seamless.
I also upgraded to WezTerm yesterday and it's awesome. Images in the terminal? Why not! Let's make one with Alpha 5!

Developers, please be careful when installing Homebrew. Google is serving sponsored links to a Homebrew site clone that has a cURL command to malware. The URL for this site is one letter different than the official site.
Note: Google allows the ad sponsors to specify an URL that will be displayed on the ad (original brew.sh here), but the click takes you to the malware domain brewe.sh.

Looks like there’s a malicious website pretending to be the Homebrew site which serves malware. (please boost)

Developers, please be careful when installing Homebrew. Google is serving sponsored links to a Homebrew site clone that has a cURL command to malware. The URL for this site is one letter different than the official site. A Google results screenshot shows the top two results for Homebrew. The first, a malicious clone, has the URL ‘brewe.sh’. The second is the real website, with the URL ‘brew.sh’.

Memory a small card-matching game I made in GB Studio 4 to learn some new features.
It is very, very simple but people seem to be enjoying it! You can read about the algorithm or look over the code!

i'm persune, i post about my hobbies on the internet.
i love the famicom, but i focus on the technical architecture than the games.
i do some music, chiptune, software, NES/FC homebrew, hardware, and a mix in-between.

And there you go! My #68k #homebrew computer is running at 8MHz!
I thought for a moment that I had messed something up, but of course it had to be the ROM write. `srec_cat` is your friend.
In the scope shot, top to bottom, we have CLK, /AS, and A0. A sort of "free running" mode, all zeroes in the ROM, i.e. ori.b #0,d0. It happens to work with the exception table and all of that.
Now, on to write a test program and make it say hello over serial!
There are so many wires in this thing, I can hold it up like a pizza slice without it bending.
👋 🌏 Hello, world!
@thankfulmachine here.
I'm interested in analog/digital electronics, PCB design, retro consoles, homebrew computers, emulators, and anything/everything 6502/816/Z80/68K/MIPS!
I'm currently working on a 68000-based homebrew computer because the 68K just doesn't get enough love <3! Actively re-re-learning Verilog/FPGA for various things related to that project and for future uses.
A huge Yamaha OP_ fan, creating hardware and software around the legendary audio chip, you might see some music recommendations for FM music from time to time!

With migrating to a new instance I should do an #introduction again:
I'm Evan (he/they). I love to #homebrew my own beer, ride #bicycles, and get #tattoos.
During the day I run #CX for a SAAS company in the Airline travel space. For fun I spend time playing #videogames - right now it is #FFXIV and #roguelikes
For anyone looking for feedback or coaching on #ux or #cx career growth - please reach out. I am happy to review portfolios and provide feedback/coaching.
Big Cork news: You can now buy Cork through the website, https://corkmac.app, without having to go through GitHub Sponsors! No need for any accounts at all :)
To celebrate this huge milestone, Cork is now 50% off if you buy it through the website! Just use the code IAMFROMMASTODON to get your discount. This code is valid until the end of November.
Of course, you'll always be able to buy it from GitHub as well.

The #github repository of my #sega #mastersystem and #gamegear #emulator called "Masterlator" is now public 🙂 I've rewritten the code in proper C++, use #cmake as the build system, utilize #sdl2 and added a new #debugger with #wladx compatible *.sym file support, memory viewer and tile/sprite viewer. It's rather basic now but will hopefully be a good tool for #homebrew game #development in the future.
Wrote a replacement for the Mythic Flaw: Stake Bait (●●) in Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition, called Weak Spot (● or ●●), which gives you more wiggle room for how stakes and having the heart penetrated should affect a vampire character, as well as a note on the many powers your character could learn to limit how exploitable the flaw is.

I've been developing video games as a hobby since 1999 and professionally since 2015 as lead programmer at Retrotainment Games for 4 games and counting. I specialize in #NES and dabble in other 8- and 16-bit consoles. In addition to #homebrew games, I maintain ports of 240p Test Suite to NES, #GameBoy, and #GBA, the Action 53 menu software used by the #NESdev Compo, and #emulator test ROMs.
Personal games
Concentration Room, Thwaite, RHDE: Furniture Fight, Libbet and the Magic Floor
Professional games
Haunted: Halloween '85, Haunted: Halloween '86, Full Quiet, Garbage Pail Kids: Mad Mike and the Quest for Stale Gum
I prefer #FreeSoftware, having used #Ubuntu since 2008. I'd love to read thoughts on how proprietary software in #gamedev can become less of a necessary evil.
Expect puns and allusions to #Pinocchio and #Weebles.

I'm Evan, QTH is #WallaWallaWA, a small town in eastern (rural) Washington, USA. Always struggling to learn CW, with aspirations to do more outdoors ops #POTA #SOTA and build #homebrew radios.
Besides being a parent and civil engineer turned software dev PM, I also do #bicycling #birding and #woodworking.
I occasionally post non-#HamRadio stuff at @eheisman but this seems to be my main account now.
(Realized I never pinned my #introduction so thus this re-intro.)
Hello I'm Pekka and I do experiments in computer graphics, video art, and machine learning. I also read a lot. I mostly post about my hobby projects (or #books I'm reading).
At the moment I'm working on #homebrew #N64 stuff and making some mashups tracks. Occasionally also #demoscene coding with or without #shaders :)

This community reminds me of the net as I once knew it. A place where I learned new and interesting things often and didn't log off feeling like trash. I'm excited to be a part of this wonderful group.
Hi there. I'm a software developer/architect/engineer/consultant at factor10 from Varberg in Sweden.
I prefer #rustlang these days if I get to choose, which I rarely don't...
You can read what I write about software over at https://raniz.blog
When I'm not coding I try to get faster at #triathlon, #homebrew beer or spend time with my family.
I also play #games, but since I don't have as much time for that these days I tend to play a few year old games I can get cheap.
