#Hollo 0.7 brings a redesigned #notification system with much better performance. We've moved from generating #notifications on-demand to storing them as they happen, which makes the notifications endpoint about 60% faster. We've also added response compression (though if you're using a reverse proxy, you probably had this already).
More notably, Hollo 0.7 implements Mastodon's v2 grouped notifications API. Notifications like favorites, follows, and reblogs targeting the same post or account are now grouped together server-side, reducing clutter. Clients that support the new API (introduced in #Mastodon 4.3) will show cleaner, more organized notifications automatically.
Hollo 0.7 is still in development, but we're excited to share it with you when it's ready!

This update introduces two exciting improvements: brand-new email templates and personalized notification settings.
Emails now deliver much richer content—mentions and direct messages include the full post, and the refreshed design feels modern and refined. Additionally, new follower notifications feature a profile card, making it easier to see who's interacting with your content.

Emails now deliver much richer content—mentions and direct messages include the full post, and the refreshed design feels modern and refined. Additionally, new follower notifications feature a profile card, making it easier to see who’s interacting with your content.
We’ve made several improvements around Embeds and Importing: Fediverse content embedding now has fallback support, so even if native oEmbed responses are unavailable, embeds will appear consistently. The Mastodon importer has also been significantly enhanced—it now imports all media types, supports user blocks, and automatically embeds replies in imported conversations, making transitions smoother and content richer.
For Email Notifications, you’ll now receive alerts whenever someone mentions you in the Fediverse. Direct message notification emails have been upgraded with embedded message previews, and follower notification emails received a visual refresh with helpful meta details included.
We’ve also refined User Interactions and Moderation by integrating WordPress’s disallowed list to prevent unwanted ActivityPub interactions. Notification preferences have become user-specific, allowing more personalized control over alerts and interactions.
Additionally, we’ve improved Compatibility and Stability, including better support for Multisite Language Switcher, resolving PHP warnings during Mastodon import processes, enhancing user context handling in Global-Inbox actions, and ensuring reply links and popup modals are properly translated for logged-out visitors.

Funny thing, I put a onhold in the audiobook and the hardcopy version, and I got the notification that it was ready to borrow, I went to the library just to find out that the audiobook was the one it was ready, not the physical version. 🤷♂️
After several more months in my #Friendica account, for ...reasons... it's time now to return to my primary Masto account to shuffle about in it for a bit. I see the current version is v4.4.0-alpha.1+glitch. I am very confused about the current #Notifications [mis]behaviour. Even after clicking on the tick icon inside the Notifications view, the indicator does not reset. In fact so far i've not found any way to clear it apart from reloading the page, which is pretty unsatisfactory coz then all columns return to the top, ie, i lose my chronological reading places.
Is this now the "proper" behaviour?
Is it a known bug?
Is there a new setting relevant to this that i might have overlooked?
Lots of great updates in the latest Mastodon release, but I am particularly excited about this.
"We’re also bringing two new major features to help people deal with unwanted attention. Notification grouping [and] a brand new system for filtering unwanted notifications."
Hoping this will improve everyone's experience on here!
