Today's historic photo of the day: Taken by my grandfather, this photo sees a Rigibahn train on the Vitznau to Rigi standard gauge Riggenbach rack #railway at Vitznau, Switzerland in mid 1957.
Built in 1871, this standard gauge rack railway line claims to have been Europe's first mountain railway, and just its second rack railway. The line runs from a station adjacent to a wharf on Lake Lucerne at Vitznau, and climbs 1300m in the 7km run to Rigi.
