@hongminhee i've recently come across Audrey Tang, the first Minister of Digital Affairs in Taiwan, and read some of her writing on the subject of "civic AI".

there doesn't seem to be one single syllable of reflection on any of the harms of genAI use. nothing on cognitive offload, on the erosion of professional skill, on the loss of intuition and a mounting inertia when it comes to problem-solving without interacting with genAI.

@hongminhee I’m wondering why too! I don’t know about East Asia, but maybe Europe is more hostile to Big Tech and foreign companies? I can’t tell if it’s the real reason but that what’s comes to mind

@hongminhee Hello from Belgium. Generative AI slop has taken over most of casual graphic design (any situation in which one would have reached for stock photography) and the Federal Police uses ChatGPT to write public announcements. Is is even worse in North America?
