I looked into it and xBrowserSync seems to be close to what I'm looking for, but it doesn't support Safari and has no plans to in the future.

And just for the records, I use Linkding as centralized bookmark. It's more like a links storage with tags, no article saving.
But it's a different purpose, for sure.

I used for some years, self-hosted.
It had some weird behaviors as it needs to handle internal bookmarks of each browsers. Sometimes it complete erases and sync again, it can be slow to add new items, or if both browsers are open at the same time. It's hard to be widely compatible.
Well, I'm not a user for at least 4 years, so maybe they improved.
That said, even using MongoDB for storage it is fast and lightweigth.
