The next version of #Fedify will add the Context.lookupObject() method, which is preferred over the global lookupObject() function.

That thing you hate and you wanna change, you should do it now. The longer you wait, the harder it will be, and everything will get worse. It's real hard to change it, almost seems impossible, but shit won't get better if you just sit there dealing with it
